I am going to try to be more communicative. I haven't been great about facebook so maybe this will work!!
Ten days into the new year. This is how it has gone.
On New Year's Eve we attended the funeral of Rick's Aunt Marjorie. She passed away the day after Christmas. She had planned this funeral to a T for several years. She even had the talk typed out for Rick and the bishop. In fact the bishop said the instructions had been passed through several bishops! The only talk she didn't have pre-written was for Elder L. Tom Perry, a member of the quorum of the twelve who was her home teacher. All of Rick's family was there. We figured it must have been the first time in 12 years they had all been together. Mark didn't come home for Russell's funeral 9 years ago.
New Years day we spent in Brigham City with the family watching slides and eating!
On Saturday the 2nd Rick and I attended a training meeting for Stake Presidencies and wives at the Draper Temple. We were instructed on how to take guest tours through the temple and talking points. Then we went thru the temple and felt the spirit there.
Sunday the guest tours began. They had expected 400 guests and ended up with 2500!! Sunday night we had a going away party for our friend Liz Hansen. She is headed to Cebu, Phillipines to teach in a film school for 7 months. We invited friends, ward members, family to kiss and hug goodbye. She left on Tuesday and has arrived there safe and sound.
Every one back to school on Monday, we had a 2 week break for Christmas and it was good to get back to a routine!
Had my Colonoscopy on Wed. Valerie!! Glad to have that over. I have put it off for 2 years. Even prepped for it one other time and chickened out at the LAST minute! I know I am a wimp! I have to admit it freaked me out when they were giving me all the disclaimer stuff. I had a flash back of the day mom went in for her liver biopsy and the doc was giving all the stats on how this only happens to 1 in 10,000...and then it did. Anyway one polyp so we'll see.
Friday was our stakes day at the temple. (see previous email). Each stake in the temple district is in charge of two days a month. Our other day was Tuesday this week.
Saturday Kristin and I have begun preparing to run a half-marathon in the Salt Lake City marathon. Michael Doane's family has put together a team to run/Running for Michael. So we did our first "BIG" run! (3 miles). We did OK. 11 min mile. So it won't be a winning time marathon!
I will try to figure out how to put pix on here for next time! Love Shauna
